Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) Accredited Training | 2024



Enrolments are now open for the ALFA Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) Accredited Training, proudly sponsored by MLA and Zoetis, delivered from August and September in person across QLD, NSW, VIC, SA and WA.



The two-day training course, delivered by feedlot veterinarian Dr Paul Cusack and ALFA’s Technical Services Officer Jeff House, is aimed at providing feedlot managers, supervisors, key training personnel and quality assurance officers with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills for the management, assessment, auditing and on-the-job training of animal welfare within a feedlot operation.


This workshop will be run as a combination of classroom and on-site (feedlot) practical work-based assignments followed by a post-course assessment process.


CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion of the online training and post-training assessment, students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment from TAFE Queensland (RTO Number 0275) for

the Animal Welfare Officer Skill Set, containing the following units of competency:

  • AMPLSK201 Apply animal welfare and handling requirements

  • AMPLSK401 Oversee humane handling of animals

Each enrolled person is required to provide at enrolment confirmation (post registration):

  • Condamine, QLD - Monday 5th - Tuesday 6th August

  • Emerald QLD - Thursday 8th - Friday 9th August

  • Narrandera, NSW - Tuesday 13th - Wednesday 14th August

  • Tamworth, NSW - Thursday 15 - Friday 16th August

  • Oakey, QLD - Tuesday 27th - Wednesday 28th August

  • Oakey, QLD - Thursday 29th - Friday 30th August

  • Geelong, VIC - Tuesday 17th - Wednesday 18th September

  • Burra, SA - Thursday 19th - Friday 20th September

  • Hyden, WA - Tuesday 24th - Wednesday 25th September

Class sizes are capped at 25 people to allow for optimal group learning. Dates and locations are subject to change. Any enrolled people will be notified.


REGISTRATION FEE

Registration is per person and covers training materials, catering for the two days, and certification. Travel to and from the workshop is not included.

ALFA MEMBER - $750 (inc gst) per person

NON-MEMBER - $850 (inc gst) per person


Once registered, you will be emailed a form for each student to complete their individual enrolment details ahead of the training date.


Group Enrolments

If you have a group enrolment, please select number of staff in the checkout, and enter details of the primary contact person. This person will receive the enrolment form link to pass on. Each person participating in the training will need to complete their individual enrolment details using the form link ahead of the training date.

Pay on Invoice/PO Registrations

If you would like to pay on invoice and/or require a PO number, please email events@feedlots.com.au with the details regrading number of people you are wishing to register, referencing training location booking into. ALFA Accounts will issue an invoice based on the details provided for payment ahead of the training.


CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

If you need to cancel, you may do so in writing to events@feedlots.com.au and a full refund will be issued if notice is received by ALFA at said email address, at least 35 days out from the training date booked into. Unfortunately, given the cost to organise the training, a full refund cannot be provided if notification is received under 35 days out from the training. A 50% partial refund will apply to those that cancel within 35 days of the training. Registration is transferable between staff members of the registered business, however ALFA must be notified as soon as possible and the new staff member must complete their online enrolment form at least 7-days out from the training date to attend.


Terms & Conditions:

ALFA holds events in third-party venues and uses contracted facilitators that may hold their own policies around COVID-19 vaccination and may require ALFA event attendees to check in via a QR code and/or show proof of your COVID-19 vaccination certificate or medical exemption. ALFA holds no responsibility for your ability to access a venue if you cannot produce sufficient evidence of vaccination or if you choose not to adhere to the venue’s check-in requirements. No refunds will be issued if you are denied access to the venue due to the above outlined conditions.
