About Koojan Downs Feeding Facility:
Koojan Downs feeding facility is located 30kms from Moora and 160kms north of Perth. Koojan Downs is part of the integrated beef supply chain for Harvest Road. This integrated beef supply chain ranges from north to southwest of Western Australia and is based on best-practice ecological planning and animal welfare management.

Opportunity:
We are currently seeking an energetic and positive Operations Manager with a passion for animal welfare to join our expanding business based at our feeding facility near Moora, WA. This is WA’s largest feeding facility and is designed to supply Harvest Road’s processing facility, Harvey Beef.

Reporting to the Business Unit Manager – Koojan Downs Feedlot, you will lead the routine care and feeding of cattle kept in the feeding facility and oversee the operational process of the feeding facilities. You will be a self-motivated person who is hands on and is passionate about the agriculture industry. You will have a strong work ethic and be willing to learn and contribute to the team.

Your primary responsibility will be the operations of the feeding facility and ensuring the operational deliverables and staff are managed in accordance with Harvest Road’s quality, safety and animal welfare policies and procedures. You will ensure that proper husbandry techniques and feeding programs are in place to promote optimal growth.

Key Responsibilities of the role:
• Ensure the coordination of daily activities and resources required across various departments of the feeding facility.
• Assist the Business Unit Manager in the facilitation and coordination of management meetings that are conducted weekly and any other operational meetings required across the feedlot.
• Lead, motivate and develop a high performing team to effectively carry out all aspects of the day-to-day operations.
• Backfilling for leave and other unexpected events when required.
• Lead and train a team in the safe and low stress handling of all livestock.
• Ensure that all Quality Assurance, OH&S and Environmental policies and procedures are being implemented throughout the feedlot.
• Take a leadership role in the implementation of the training systems across the feedlot to ensure that adequate training and the development of staff skills meets the business requirements.
• Manage cost responsibilities within budgetary limitations of the business in consultation with the Business Unit Manager.
• Provide positive input into the planning and structuring of the business operational requirements in conjunction with executive management and feedlot line management where required.

Ideal skillset:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in in the operation and management of a livestock enterprise.
• Proven staff management experience.
• Progressive and positive attitude.
• Genuine dedication to animal welfare.
• Ability to adapt and deal with change, challenges and take on new responsibilities and opportunities as they arise.
• Ability to empower team members with knowledge and skills.
• Willingness to fill in across all operational requirements when required.
• Sound ability to effectively monitor and manage costs.
• Current driver’s licence.
• High computer literacy.
• Personal qualities of leadership, commitment and enthusiasm.

WHAT WILL I DO?
As a Induction Stockperson you will have a varying day including:
• Timely and effective receival of cattle (induction) including vaccinating, ear tagging, drenching in accordance with relevant protocols and instructions
• Daily observation, health management (including Treatment) of Livestock to ensure animal wellbeing
• Cleaning and maintenance of stock water supplies
• Manual handling of animals in the feedlot
• Arrivals & Exiting cattle including diligence of animal types, completion of appropriate documentation and record keeping, weighing, scanning and drafting
• Facility maintenance

About the role: The Livestock Hand (Pen Rider) are responsible for maintaining the health, welfare, and overall care of livestock, in strict adherence to both internal guidelines and external regulations. Duties of pen riders include and will require you to have some experience in: Horse-based and general livestock husbandry tasks; Monitoring cattle health on horseback; Drafting and moving cattle on horseback; Administration of animal health products; Receiving, drafting, processing, and moving of cattle daily; Must have a current drivers licence. Pen Riders will ideally supply 2 suitable working horses and tack to be considered for the position which attracts a generous fortnightly horse allowance along with shoeing, feed, vaccinations, regular horsemanship training and individual paddocks for your horses.

Responsibilities
We have an opportunity for a Feeding Hand to join our collaborative Feed Mill Team. You’ll be joining a high-performing team, who work to exacting standards to deliver ration to the 20,000 cattle in our care in a timely manner. You will be responsible for loading, mixing, and delivering rations to our cattle, and maintaining company equipment. We’re passionate about cross-training, so your role will include other duties required of the Feeding and Milling Team and well as in other areas of the yard.

Qualifications
Reporting to the Feed Mill Manager, we are looking for someone who is:

- A competent driver with a current driver’s licence (no truck or other license required and onsite training is provided)
- A team player with effective communication skills and not afraid to get stuck in, whether that’s shovelling bunks or assisting in other areas of the yard
- A willingness to learn and undertake additional training required for the role
- Has good attention to detail and great time management skills
- Passionate about the important role feeding plays in contributing to our animal care
- Driven by KPIs and a desire to meet or exceed these

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Feedmill Supervisor to join our team on a permanent full-time basis.

Leading a team of up to 8 people, the successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing the hands-on day to day milling & feeding operations at the feedlot. The modern steam flaking mill is state of the art and can process up to 200 tonne of grain per day.

The feeding system utilises the latest Digistar technology and delivery is carried out using Rotomix feedtrucks.

This opportunity would suit an enthusiastic individual who has a genuine desire to work in the beef industry and who thrives in a collaborative team environment.

Some of the tasks of this role will include:

-Leading the feeds team.
-Ordering & organising delivery of commodities.
-Bunk calling – ensuring cattle are fed to the standards required
-Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office etc
-Commodity testing as per QA requirements

About you:

-Minimum 2 years experience in feed milling, ideally with steam flaking experience.
-Previous leadership role.
