The Australian Lot Feeders’ Association (ALFA), in partnership with AUS-MEAT, is excited to announce that entries are now open for the 2026 Feedlot of the Year Competition.
Winners will be revealed at the beef industry’s premier conference, BeefEx 2026, in September next year.
Now in its latest edition, the competition continues to encourage continuous improvement within the Australian feedlot industry and recognises businesses that are operating at the forefront of the principles of the National Feedlot Assurance Scheme (NFAS).
This year, ALFA has refined the Feedlot of the Year entry process to make participation easier and more accessible. Changes include waiving entry fees for feedlots with a constructed capacity under 3,000 head, and streamlining the competition questionnaire to encourage feedlots of all sizes to get involved.
“Feedlot of the Year is about shining a spotlight on the excellence within our industry,” said Grant Garey, ALFA President. “It provides an opportunity for feedlots of all sizes to benchmark themselves, celebrate achievements, and showcase leadership in best practice.”
The competition is open to all NFAS-accredited feedlots, regardless of size or ownership structure. Four entry categories are available, based on constructed capacity:
Under 3,000 head (no entry fee)
3,000 – 8,000 head
8,000 – 15,000 head
Above 15,000 head
Each entrant will receive valuable individual benchmarking feedback, while winners gain significant marketing benefits and industry recognition. Independent judging is undertaken by AUS-MEAT and industry representatives, and all entries remain strictly confidential.
Entries close Friday, 17 October 2025. Further details, including information on the Feedlot of the Year questionnaire, will be released shortly.
Feedlots can enter the competition by completing this form.
ENDS.
