Calling Livestock Industry Leaders: Help Strengthen Queensland’s Emergency Animal Disease Response

ALFA are seeking nominations from lot feeders who are ready to undertake Livestock Liaison for Industry training (LLI).

Industry representatives who undertake the role of an LLI play a critical role during an emergency animal disease (EAD) response by providing feedlot industry knowledge, essential advice, and guidance to government on response matters. This role has a formal role within response arrangements and participants who complete the training may be called upon to represent the Lotfed industry during an EAD response.

Queensland Department of Primary Industries (DPI) and Animal Health Australia (AHA) are hosting two in-depth workshops aimed at ensuring EAD preparedness, tailored for Liaison – Livestock Industry representatives.

  • Charters Towers, QLD on Tuesday 17 June 2025

  • Brisbane, QLD on Thursday 19 June 2025

During the workshop, you will:

  • Explore the intricate EAD arrangements and understand the integral roles and responsibilities of LLI representatives.

  • Gain practical insights into working effectively within a response framework and learn the nuances of communication in EAD scenarios.

  • Participate in interactive, scenario-based training designed to deepen your understanding and equip you with actionable skills.

  • Seize the opportunity to forge strong relationships across the sector, creating a unified front against the looming threats of EAD on our industry.

This is not general awareness training and is targeted to those who can step up and take a leadership role during a response and work with government within a control centre.

If you would like to be considered for this training, please complete this form to nominate your interest to ALFA by 07 May 2025.

By registering for this training program, you acknowledge that as a trained LLI representative you may be called upon to perform the LLI function. To the best of your knowledge, you agree that you will be available and have the capacity to step away from your usual duties to step into this role.

You must be available to attend in person to the workshop which will run for 6-7 hours.  Times will be confirmed closer to the date. Travel costs will be at participants’ own expense.

All participants must complete the AHA Liaison-Livestock Industry (LLI) online course prior to workshop attendance. The LLI online course is expected to take about 2-4 hours to complete. Follow these guidelines to register for and access this online course.

Participants will also be expected to read any pre-workshop training material as provided by AHA to enable your full participation in the training sessions.

If you have any queries regarding the training, please reach out to ALFA’s Biosecurity Manager, Rachael O’Brien, at rachael.obrien@feedlots.com.au
