ALFA Future Feeders Network Opens Door for Young Industry Leaders

The Australian Lot Feeders' Association (ALFA) is calling on the next generation of industry leaders to apply for the second term of the ALFA Future Feeders Network (FFN) Committee, as the inaugural committee's two-year term draws to a close this November.
The FFN Committee was established in 2024 to give young people working in or studying towards a career in the lot feeding industry a direct voice in shaping the future of the sector. Since then, the inaugural committee has driven a program of activities designed to connect, develop and grow the next generation of lot feeding professionals including the FFN Forum & Soirée held in Toowoomba in September 2025, and the upcoming FFN Networking Function at BeefEx next week.
Outgoing FFN Committee Chair, Tim Mitchell of Condabri Beef, said the past two years had shown just how much appetite there is among young people in the industry to get involved and contribute.
"Being part of the inaugural FFN Committee has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career so far. Watching the network grow and seeing the energy in the room at our Forum & Soirée in Toowoomba last September, really brought home just how many talented young people we have coming through in this industry," Mr Mitchell said.
"We're really looking forward to bringing that same energy to the FFN Networking Function at BeefEx next week, and I'd encourage anyone thinking about applying for the new committee to come along and see firsthand what this network is all about."
ALFA Industry Capacity Committee Chair, Amanda Moohen, said the FFN Committee had exceeded expectations in its first term and played a key role in ALFA's broader efforts to attract and retain young talent in the industry.
"The success of the first FFN Committee has been outstanding. Tim and his fellow committee members have shown incredible initiative, and events like the FFN Forum & Soirée have proven just how valuable it is to give young people in this industry a platform to connect and lead," Ms Moohen said.
"With the FFN Networking Function at BeefEx taking place next week, now is the perfect time for young lot feeders to see the network in action and consider putting their hand up for the next committee."
"This is a genuine opportunity for young professionals in the lot feeding industry to contribute to the direction of ALFA's initiatives, build their own leadership skills, and have a real say in the future of the industry," Ms Moohen said.
Applications are now open for the 2026–2028 ALFA FFN Committee. The committee comprises eight members, including a Chair, and is open to passionate individuals aged 35 years and under who are currently working in the lot feeding industry, either on a feedlot or for a related business, or studying an agricultural or related degree.
Applicants must be current members of the ALFA Future Feeders Network and are asked to submit a resume and one-page cover letter as part of the application process.
