student conference scholarships

Proudly sponsored by Meat & Livestock Australia and ALFA

The Australian Lot Feeders’ Association (ALFA) in collaboration with Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) provides a number of scholarships to students undertaking tertiary studies in an agricultural related field to attend the feedlot industry’s premier technical conference, SmartBeef 2021, being held at Dalby QLD on 19-21 October 2021.

SmartBeef attracts over 300 delegates, with lot feeders, backgrounders, researchers, suppliers and students in attendance. There are over 50 exhibition trade stalls and plenty of networking and social functions dotted throughout the Program. The overarching conference theme or smarter, richer beef means the program delivers an array of engaging international and domestic speakers talking to smart tech, business and community. The conference also hosts the presentation of a number of Industry Awards and so students have the unique opportunity to mix with the best the industry has to offer in terms of knowledge, skills and leadership.

The scholarships are awarded to students who show an interest in lot feeding, and/or associated fields. Student will be selected on the quality of their responses in the application form and their interest in a career in the lot feeding sector.

The scholarship covers a full delegate conference registration. This includes a two-day conference ticket and a ticket to all social functions. The value of this scholarship is $880. Please note that all other expenses incurred with attending the event, including travel & accommodation expenses are at the scholars own expense.

ALFA also offers a heavily discounted ticket for Students to have the chance to attend SmartBeef, in the case you miss out on a scholarship. See the website for more details.

Preference is given to ALFA Student Members.  To increase your chances of receiving a scholarship, you may like to look into becoming an ALFA Student Member, at $50 per year; you receive a fortnightly newsletter to keep you up to date on industry happenings as well as a bimonthly magazine, work placement opportunities are also notified to Student Members.
