Important Information: Use of VICTRATO Seed Treatment

ALFA has recently received several enquiries regarding the seed treatment chemical VICTRATO®.

VICTRATO® is a relatively new seed treatment used in wheat and barley. Members should be aware of its potential implications, particularly concerning Export Slaughter Intervals (ESI) and Maximum Residue Limits (MRL). These factors can impact harvest timing, grazing practices, and the use of wheat and barley as commodities in feedlots.

When sourcing wheat or barley for commodity use, members are encouraged to check whether the supplier has used VICTRATO® as a seed treatment. To ensure transparency and compliance, Commodity Vendor Declarations (CVDs) should be requested to confirm whether VICTRATO® has been applied.

INDUSTRY NOTICE: Understanding the grazing withholding period and export slaughter intervals for VICTRATO® Seed Treatment.

VICTRATO® is Syngenta’s new seed treatment for cereal crops, offering highly effective protection against Fusarium Crown Rot. To support safe product use and market access, it is critical that growers and advisors follow the grazing withholding period (WHP) and export slaughter interval (ESI) outlined on the product label.

Syngenta have analysed crops grown from seed treated with VICTRATO® for residues of cyclobutrifluram and its metabolites.

The following withholding periods are included on the label to ensure the MRLs and ESIs are not exceeded:

Harvest: NOT required when used as directed – no residues detected in grain at harvest, therefore the feeding of harvested grain will not pose any additional restrictions on grazing animals.

Grazing: DO NOT graze treated crops or cut for stock food for 6 weeks after sowing – Applies to both domestic and export trade markets. In the case of livestock destined for export where relevant MRLs may not exist in the export destination, remove livestock from the feed source and place on clean feed for 14 days prior to slaughter. After the 6-week withholding period for the domestic market only, livestock can graze on the crop, hay, grain or stubble with no risk of exceeding the domestic MRLs.

Export slaughter interval (ESI): 14 days, Livestock that has been grazed on or fed treated crops should be placed on clean feed for 14 days prior to slaughter – includes the crop, hay and stubble excludes harvested grain treated with VICTRATO® at seeding. The ESI applies for all animal export commodities following slaughter (meat, offal,).

Precautions: DO NOT use treated seed for animal or human consumption – Seed treated with VICTRATO® for the intent of seeding should not be consumed.
