Molly Sage named 2020 Young Lot Feeder of the Year

Molly Sage from JBS Beef City Feedlot, Qld was announced the winner of Australian Lot Feeders’ Association (ALFA) Young Lot Feeder of the Year Award 2020, proudly sponsored by Performance Feeds, at ALFA's 50th Anniversary event today.

The award embodies passion, leadership, development and initiative and encourages emerging, dedicated employees to contribute their ideas and vision for lot feeding at a national level. Entrants are required to submit a compelling essay on a real or perceived industry issue discussing its implications to the feedlot industry and explore a proposed solution to be successful in the award. They also must demonstrate their leadership potential through a defined set criteria.

From an original pool of 13 entries, six progressed to the second judging round where they undertook a formal interview with the judging panel, followed by presenting to the ALFA Council on their essay topic. The final three; Kailen Hodgson, Teys Charlton Feedlot, VIC and Louise Rush, TFI Iranda Beef, SA; and Molly Sage, JBS Beef City Qld remained to vie for the top award.

See Molly's final pitch below:

Molly has won $5,000 funding towards a study trip/further study, along with a grain fed beef industry scholarship to attend the ARLF's TRAIL program for emerging leaders.

ALFA wishes to thank its long-term supporter and Platinum Member, Performance Feeds, for sponsoring this award.

END.
