As temperatures rise, managing heat in a feedlot becomes critical, not only for cattle welfare but also for maintaining productivity and performance.
ALFA has launched a new Feedlot TECH Lite course, Managing Summer Heat, developed with the support of Meat & Livestock Australia. This short, practical module gives feedlot teams the knowledge and confidence to prepare for the season ahead - preventing heat stress, protecting animal welfare, and keeping operations running smoothly.

Designed to be accessible, free, and easy to complete, this course is part of the Feedlot TECH Fundamentals series, offering valuable training for everyone in the industry — from pen riders to managers.
THE MANAGING SUMMER HEAT COURSE COVERS ESSENTIAL TOPICS INCLUDING:
Understanding and monitoring heat load
Developing and activating a heat load management plan
Identifying high-risk cattle and pens
Pre-summer preparation and shade design
Whether you’re new to the feedlot or looking for a timely refresher before summer, this module provides practical tools and insights to support best-practice management.
This essential course is available free of charge as part of Feedlot TECH Lite, making training accessible to everyone in the feedlot industry.
An initiative of ALFA, in collaboration with MLA, the Managing Summer Heat eLearning course is available through the feedlot industry’s Training, Education and Careers Hub, Feedlot TECH.
