ALFA welcomes new and re-elected board directors while recognising contributions of retiring directors.
The Association closed out its 2020–2025 Strategic Plan and set a clear course for the future with the launch of the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, guiding the industry’s growth to 2030.
Amanda Moohen was re-elected to the ALFA Board, joined by newly appointed Elected Directors James Sage and Emily Perkins.
The Australian Lot Feeders’ Association (ALFA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday 11 November 2025, with President, Grant Garey, welcoming members and providing an overview of the Association’s activities over the past year.
During the AGM, held in person in Brisbane, ALFA confirmed the election of new Board Directors alongside re-elected Directors:

Board Directors who retired from the ALFA Board included:

Grant Melrose
In his address to AGM attendees, Mr Garey reflected on ALFA’s achievements as we close the final chapter of our 2020–2025 Strategic Plan. “In 2025 we completed the final chapter of our 2020–2025 Strategic Plan, and together, built the roadmap for the next five years, our new Strategic Plan 2025–2030.
That plan sets out a clear direction for how we will lead, support, and grow the feedlot industry to 2030, guided by Red Meat 2030, and the determination and professionalism that define this sector.” Mr Garey said.
As reported in ALFA’s Annual Report, Year in Review 2025, Mr Garey highlighted key achievements against ALFA’s strategic objectives, which serve over 90% of Australia’s cattle feedlot capacity.
Mr Garey highlighted the sector’s progress, noting that people remain central to ALFA’s mission. In 2025, over 2,900 individuals across 204 feedlots engaged with Feedlot TECH, investing in training and development to build industry capability.
ALFA’s commitment to animal welfare was reinforced through the Shade Initiative, with 1.2 million cattle now under shade - representing 72% of national capacity. This milestone reflects the sector’s dedication to improving livestock wellbeing and productivity.
The launch of the ALFA Biosecurity Hub provided feedlots with tools and training to manage biosecurity risks, supported by workshops with operators and service providers.
Meanwhile, ALFA’s professional development programs continued to grow, with 24 graduates from the MPM program and 40 emerging leaders completing a new leadership initiative.
“Our purpose remains clear, to foster a profitable, sustainable, and respected feedlot industry that nourishes communities here at home and around the world” Mr Garey concluded.
In closing, Mr Garey welcomed newly elected and re-elected Board Directors and thanked retiring Directors for their contributions to the Association and the broader industry.
The following day, in line with ALFA’s constitution, the newly elected Board convened in Brisbane to elect ALFA’s President and Vice President.
The Board was unanimous in electing Grant Garey as President and Tom Green as Vice President.
In taking on the ALFA President role for a second term, Mr Garey said, “I’m proud to lead and represent an industry built on hard work, skill, and constant improvement. Our members feed families around the globe, strengthen Australia’s regional communities every day, and play a vital role in our red meat and livestock supply chain. I’m looking forward to working with them and our team to keep lifting standards, shaping smart policy, and driving a strong, stable future for Australia’s lot feeding sector.”
Mr Green said “It’s a privilege to be elected Vice President for a second year and continue to support an Association and industry that never stands still. It’s an incredibly exciting time in the lot feeding industry, and I’m committed to supporting the Board and team, our members, and our partners as we tackle the challenges ahead and grow the opportunities that keep our sector thriving.”
Equipped with a team of widely experienced industry leaders, ALFA is looking forward to delivering for our members and the wider industry under the ALFA Board’s leadership.
