MEDIA RELEASE
The Australian Lot Feeders’ Association (ALFA) has launched its new Executive Leaders Program, a six-month initiative designed to build executive capability and provide clear, structured career pathways across the Australian lot feeding industry.
The program has been developed in response to ALFA’s priority to support clear career pathways within the feedlot sector, providing senior professionals and business owners with targeted development as they progress into advanced leadership roles.
The Executive Leaders Program represents the final stage of ALFA’s professional development pathway, building on the Emerging Leaders and Margin and People Management (MPM) programs, and preparing participants for senior executive and business leadership roles.
Chair of the ALFA Industry Capacity Committee, Amanda Moohen, said the new program addresses a clear gap in executive-level leadership development within the feedlot industry.
“Our industry relies on strong, capable leaders to navigate increasing complexity and take future opportunities,” Ms Moohen said.
“This program has been designed to support experienced professionals as they step into senior leadership roles, while also strengthening succession planning across the industry.”
The pilot program will support a cohort of approximately eight participants and will focus on strategic leadership, governance, commercial decision making and leading people and change.
Delivered with the support of Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), the program includes webinars, workshops, an agricultural innovation tour and an applied industry group project.
Ms Moohen said the program would also play an important role in strengthening mentoring capability across the sector.
“Beyond individual development, the program helps build mentoring and coaching capability among established leaders, creating stronger connections across generations within the feedlot industry,” she said.
Key program themes include strategy and industry futures, commercial and financial acumen, governance and risk, leading people and change, innovation, and media and stakeholder engagement.
The Executive Leaders Program aligns with ALFA’s strategic plan and supports the work of the ALFA Industry Capacity Committee by delivering a targeted professional development offering that builds leadership capability, strengthens mentoring, and responds to the evolving needs of the feedlot sector.
The program also supports the Red Meat 2030 strategic priority of supporting people in making careers in the Australian red meat and livestock industry attractive now and into the future, by investing in leadership capability, professional growth and long-term career pathways.
Applications for the pilot Executive Leaders Program are now open via the ALFA website and will close on 17 April 2026, with the program commencing in June.
