ABOUT

The Medal, proudly sponsored by Zoetis, recognises and awards individuals within the feedlot sector that are demonstrating excellence in feedlot operation skills and who are appling skills or knowledge as a result of participating in, or graduating from, feedlot-specific training.

ENTRY CRITERIA

 

To be eligible for entry, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in, or graduated from in the last 12 months, an eligible training program or course outlined in the 'Eligible Courses' section of this webpage.

  • Be employed at a feedlot that is a current financial Member of the Australian Lot Feeders’ Association, for a minimum of 6-months at time of entry.

  • Have completed all sections of the entry form and provided all necessary documents.

  • Be available for a workplace interview in August/September for the Second Round of Judging, if named a Finalist.

  • Be available for an online interview in October, if named a Grand Finalist, as part of the Final Round of Judging.

  • Be available to attend the ALFA Annual Conference, if named a Grand Finalist, for the announcement of the Overall Winner.

  • Agree to be a part of the promotion of the Award.

To enter, you need to complete and submit the following:

  • Fill out the online entry form and submit before the close date.

  • Attach a typed letter of endorsement from your manager, providing confirmation of your start date and endorsement for your entry into the Medal.

  • Provide an up to date Resume.

  • Attach a head shot image (size 1MB >) of yourself for use in promotion of the Medal and your entry, as neccessary.

ELIGIBLE COURSES

Eligible ALFA recognised training courses/programs that are accepted:

  • Feedlot Graduate Programs

  • Feedlot Trainee Programs

  • ALFA Margin & People Management Program

  • ALFA Animal Welfare Officer Training
     

TAFE Cert III in Feedlot Operations in the areas of:

  • Pen Riders

  • Feeding and Milling

  • Maintenance 

PRIZES

GRAND FINALISTS 

  • 3 Grand Finalists are invited to attend the ALFA Annual Conference (SmartBeef/BeefEx) for the announcement of the Overall Winner.  Included in the prize are a full conference registration and twin-share accommodation.

  • Invitation to ALFA Alumni Event at ALFA Annual Conference.


OVERALL WINNER 

  • Your name is added to the perpetual Medal and you receive a keepsake Medal.

  • A complimentary regsitration to an ALFA 2022 Workshop of choice.

  • The opportunity to attend two sessions within the ALFA 2021 MPM Program. These are the Zoetis facilitated sessions - see full details and dates for MPM Program here. 2 nights' accomodation, and travel expenses are included.
