Agri Labour Australia is currently looking for experienced Pen Riders to join our client's growing team on their feedlot on the Darling Downs, Queensland.

The role sees your responsible for the livestock health and welfare needs of the animals under your care. Receiving, drafting, processing, riding pens and moving cattle on a daily basis, you may also be required to administer products for optimum animal health and undertake a range of livestock husbandry and site maintenance activities.

Known for their award-winning grain fed and grass fed programs with Wagyu, Black Angus, Australian Shorthorn, Hereford and other premium breeds, they deliver beef products to over 40 countries worldwide.

Your Skills & Experience The ideal candidate must have previous experience in a similar role. Provided with 2-3 horses, you will be skilled in working with horses and can pass a riding test. Able to read conditions and identify potential animal health changes and hazards, you need to be an excellent communicator and be committed to a culture of safety for yourself, your team-mates and animals at all times. You will strive to challenge yourself to both; better your skills and positively contribute to the improvement of the company. To be considered for the position, it's important you can address the following criteria:

  • Highly skilled horse rider - previous Pen Riding experience is highly regarded

  • Current driver's licence

  • Experience in a similar role (with references)

  • 2 - 3 Hendra vaccinated horses and own tack

  • Must be able to provide Q Fever card

  • Good understanding of WHS and QA policies and procedures

  • Dedicated to a culture of safety at all times
