MAINTENANCE MANAGER (Kerwee Feedlot, Jondaryan QLD)

With a commitment to quality spanning over 63 years, Stockyard produces high quality grain fed Wagyu and Angus beef and has embraced innovation to deliver Australia’s finest grain-fed beef. Stockyard’s Kerwee feedlot is a 20,200 head modern cattle facility located at Jondaryan, Queensland.

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join our team at Jondaryan, QLD.


This opportunity will see you working directly with the General Manager of Feedlot Operations to assist with the day-to-day operations of our feedlot. This role is the backbone of our operations – ensuring the feedlot runs smoothly and is in an award-winning state.


The role will lead a team of 6 individuals and oversee our preventative maintenance program and the delivery of any continuous improvement projects.


About the Role:

  • Develop, review and recommend workshop policies and programs including contractor engagement, SOP’s, risk reviews and maintenance scheduling to optimise feedlot performance.

  • Plan and execute weekly and daily feedlot operations including feedlot rolling plant, pens, water supply, feed bunks, cattle yards, mill and associated facilities.

  • Assist the management team in identifying and facilitating training opportunities around practice and safe procedures when operating machinery and daily tasks.

  • Participate in monthly operational and management meetings, communicating and advocating for continuous improvement within the Maintenance team.

  • Collaborate with management to support business growth by enhanced productivity and new production strategies.

  • Ensure fuel, oils and chemical inventories are purchased and maintained.

  • Engage and oversee contactor works, ensuring adherence to company protocols including WH&S and insurance requirements.

  • Manage accounting procedures including quotes, purchase orders, general ledgering and inventory management.

  • Assist in annual budget preparation.

  • Managing internal auditing and carrying out quarterly and annual feedlot accreditations and licensing requirements.

  • Record, update and communicate benchmarking data.

  • Record and review R&D projects.

  • Oversee and instigate a high standard of WH&S management and ensure compliance with environmental standards

You will be a natural problem solver, with an eye for detail as well as getting hands on with the team organising and directing them in managing their tasks.


It is a dynamic, fast-paced environment at Stockyard’s Kerwee Feedlot, so you’ll need exceptional time management skills. You should be a self-starter, able to recognise when a job needs doing and get it done.


We want someone who wants to have a direct involvement with the owners of the company and have autonomy over the operations of the Maintenance division. You’ll need to possess good communication and people management skills as you’ll be developing relationships with your team and across the organisation as well as with our suppliers, directors and shareholders.


Experience within a similar work environment would be highly regarded as well as knowledge of and ability to work within workplace health and safety and environmental systems.
