Role: Maintenance Hand/Pen Cleaning

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Location: Goonoo Feedlot

Purpose of Position

To keep pens clean and well maintained

Our site

Goonoo farm is located in Central Queensland, 65km south east of Emerald and 20km south of Comet.  Goonoo Farm is additionally located beside our Goonoo Feedlot and Station, therefore offering fabulous collaboration and development opportunity

Personal Responsibilities and Associated Duties

  1. Clean pens after every outturn of cattle.

  2. Maintain the manure pack on top of all pens.

  3. Clean out under fences

  4. Clean feed aprons and water trough aprons.

  5. Repair pot holes in pens.

  6. Clean cattle alleys

  7. Maintain records of manure carting

  8. Maintain and service all pen cleaning machinery

  9. Ensure livestock welfare is upheld

  10.  Assist in the maintenance of all mill machinery

  11.  Assist in bunk cleaning as required.

  12.  Carryout general feedlot maintenance as directed

  13. Maintain a clean hygienic working environment

  14.  Identify and report any existing or potential faults and quality problems

Company Compliance Responsibilities

Work in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with the AAco Workplace Health and Safety Policy and all relevant State and Federal legislation.

  • Attend and apply all required safety training.

  • Follow all instructions given for working safely.

  • Identify and report all hazards, incidents and injuries immediately to the manager.

  • Report for work in a safe manner, unaffected by drugs and/or alcohol.

  • Protect own safety and health and not adversely affect the safety and health of others.

  • At all times Wear safety equipment provided for the job task.

  • Do not misuse or tamper with the safe use of equipment.

  • Follow risk management strategies developed by AAco for child protection and intervention

  • Help maintain the safety, welfare and well-being of children on the station or feedlot while they are participating in activities of which you are a part.

  • Do not knowingly participate in any illegal or unethical activity and abide with all company policies in relation to child protection and intervention.

  • Report any suspicions of abuse to the Child Protection Officer (HR Manager).

Qualifications / Competencies

  1. Ability to operate tractor with scraper, loader, manure hauler and bobcat

  2. Knowledge of animal welfare requirements of feedlot

  3. General machinery maintenance skills
