HUMAN RESOURCES & SAFETY OFFICER (Myola Feedlot, North Star NSW)

Bindaree Food Group (BFG) is a vertically integrated supply chain business delivering global meat solutions both domestically and internationally and has solidified its position as a prominent leader in the Australian meat industry.

We currently have an opportunity for a motivated and experienced HR & Safety Officer who is highly skilled to provide effective, efficient and best practice workplace health and safety service, along with managing and coordinating Human Resources services. Based at the Myola Feedlot, North Star, New South Wales the successful candidate will report directly to the Feedlot Manager.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, manage and champion a positive health and safety culture across the site and within the workforce, contribute to BFG safety initiatives;

  • Promote and support completion of Safety KPIs, and the identification of workplace health and safety hazards, risks and risk controls;

  • Lead and coordinate completion of incident investigation reports and close out corrective actions, and develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines;

  • Facilitate both HR & WHS training needs analysis and development and delivery of training and assessment;

  • Implement and monitor Return to Work Plans with Managers/Supervisors/Leads;

  • Maintain First Aid facilities to provide first aid to individuals and maintain First Aid Accreditation;

  • Oversee the day to day operational HR staffing requirements of the feedlot, provide timely and accurate advice and support on generalist HR enquiries;

  • Develop, implement, review and manage protocols, processes and practices across all human resource functions and employee services;

  • Deliver essential recruitment objectives to maintain staffing levels to ensure continuity for the business across the site;

  • Achieve improved people performance outcomes and culture change; and

  • Conducting and supporting HR and employee relations investigations; carry out performance management, employee relations and disciplinary procedures.


Essential qualifications and additional requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role/s, and in incident investigation and risk assessment.

  • Personal organisation and time management skills, with a high level on attention to detail, strong analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.

  • Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to use initiative and be strong in multi-tasking, being proactive and adaptable.

  • Experience in handling confidential issues.

  • Outstanding verbal and non-verbal communication skills, and the ability to deal with differing personalities and cultures and to liaise with people on all levels.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety / Human Resources or a related business discipline will be highly regarded but not essential.
