POSITION: Feed Allocator / Leading Hand
REPORTS TO: Feed Team Supervisor
OBJECTIVE: Provide timely and consistent quality feed to the feed bunk according to the designated feeding program by a cohesive team.
An opportunities currently exist for an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join our progressive feedlot team as full time “Feed Allocator” at Stockyard’s Kerwee Feedlot.
The roles involve the operation and maintenance of industry leading steam flaking mills and associated feed delivery plant, delivering over 240t of mixed feed each day. Family owned and operated for over 60 year, Stockyard has undergone significant upgrades to expand its capacity to 20,200 head. The successful candidate will work in a team of 8 staff on a 10/4 roster. This positions would be suited to a mechanically minded person who can work alone and in a group to consistently achieve company benchmarks. The successful candidate for this role should show the following attributes:

Strong focus on following and enforcing WH&S and environmental requirements.
Knowledge of Feeding, Milling and heavy machinery maintenance.
Experience in cattle feeding and Elynx programs will be an advantage.
Responsible for having sufficient quantity of grain for each days feeding requirements.
Ensuring inventories or all commodities and their quality is maintained for daily use.
Ensure records are kept up to date including regular KPI are monitored and met.
Liaise with WS or FS as required, and perform maintenance procedures for all rolling plant and feeding equipment.
Monitor product & plant whilst feeding.
Conduct scheduled ration and commodity tests and recording.
Maintaining commodity shed hygiene
Maintain the liquid handling area in a clean, operable and hygienic state
Ensure feed truck is operating in a well maintained and functional capacity including calibration, delivery accuracy and minimise spillage.
Ensure cattle are fed on time as consistently as practical each day.
Monitor feed bunks to ensure the daily feed is delivered to clean bunks
Ensure ration programs set by the GM are adhered to, and rations are loaded and mixed accordingly monitoring mixing consistency
Document ingredients and quantities into each truck load of feed, so that accurate feeding records can be maintained including team KPIs
Co-ordinate all feed allocations and bunk cleaning requirements.
Maintain FY3000 feed data entry records and digistar communications.
Report defective equipment to MS or FS or AM
Co-ordinate feed staff training and personal development to suit the team needs.
Assist FS in staff appointments and continuous team performance improvement.
Assist FS to plan and execute capital expenditure projects and feed delivery efficiencies.
