ALFA offers a number of member benefits:
Advocacy
ALFA as the legislated peak body for the feedlot industry is the first point of contact for politicians, Government bureaucracies, service providers, other peak councils and research & development bodies when industry views are sought.
ALFA also proactively keeps abreast of legislative and industry developments to ensure feedlot members’ interests are represented. ALFA progresses key industry issues on behalf of members such as ethanol mandates, animal health & welfare, climate change, water, beef residues etc through more than 70 Government and industry committees at well over 250 meetings per year.
Via such efforts, ALFA is able to punch above its weight to achieve common sense outcomes so that issues can be addressed often before you and your business are even aware or affected.
Policy Analysis & Development
ALFA analyses Government and industry policy developments to determine its potential impact upon the industry and the most appropriate industry response.
As part of this process ALFA has a rigorous and thorough policy development process that utilises industry feedback, desk top research and the utilisation of ALFA’s Committee and Council structure. Whether you have a small, medium or large feedlot you can be sure that ALFA reflects your issues and concerns.
Allocation of Levy Funding
ALFA has an important responsibility in directing the funding priorities for expenditure of your grain fed cattle transaction levy. This not only concerns research and development, and marketing expenditure under Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) but also the programs within Animal Health Australia (AHA), the National Residue Survey (NRS) and the Cattle Disease Contingency Fund (CDCF).
Member Communciations
ALFA communicates to members via a fortnightly e-newsletter and the ALFA Lotfeeding magazine published by Rural Press, 6 times per year. ALFA members also receive direct email and website updates on key legislative and industry issues, reports and events – ensuring you have relevant and timely information.
ALFA membership ensures you know about the issues that affect your business and its success on a timely basis.
ALFA Events, Courses & Workshops
ALFA members have the opportunity to attend ALFA events at a significant discount. These include the regular ALFA business and animal health workshops as well as BeefEx and Beef Works events.
