Calendar Photo Competition

**Please note the 2016 Competition is now closed**

ALFA is currently calling for entries into the ALFA Calendar Photo Competition 2017. This calendar competition is an initiative of the ALFA Events Committee. This year, ALFA Members are encouraged to upload their photo entry to the ALFA Facebook page. Votes will be tallied online by the number of ‘likes’ a photo receives on the Facebook Page. The top 13 ‘liked’ photos on Facebook will be made into a calendar that every ALFA Member will receive just in time for the following calendar year.

Who can enter?

The competition is open to all ALFA members and you don’t have to be a professional photographer to get involved. You must also ‘like’ ALFA on Facebook to be able to post your photo onto our wall.

How can I enter?

To enter simply upload your photo to the ALFA Facebook Page www.facebook.com/AustFeedlots. You will need to have a Facebook profile to do this. If you need to sign up to Facebook, go to www.facebook.com and sign up – it is free. If you need more instructions on this process or have difficulty, please contact ALFA Office for assistance. Please also email your original photo file to TBA, as the Facebook file will not have the right quality for use in the calendar. See below for details on the required quality.

ALFA can also upload your entry photo to the ALFA Facebook page for you. If you prefer this method, please email your digital photo to info@feedlots.com.au with the subject heading ‘Calendar Photo Competition’.

Following this you will need to complete the entry form located on our website to give consent for ALFA to use your photo. By submitting your photo(s) you are giving ALFA consent to use the image(s) for any or all media, now or hereafter, for ALFA run events and/or promotions. You also consent to ALFA releasing your image in print and electronic form publicly or privately. Entries close 31st October 2016.

Tips for taking photos

To give yourself the best chance of having a prize-winning photo, there are a few things you should consider when taking and submitting your photos. Photos taken in landscape format (horizontal photos) rather than in portrait format (vertical photos) work best for the layout of the ALFA calendar and therefore have a better chance of being selected as a prize winner. If using a digital camera please ensure you use the highest resolution/quality settings available on your camera when taking the shot.

How do I send my photos?

We will only accept digital photos: When sending digital photos or a scanned image, a JPEG file is preferred. Other acceptable file formats include TIFF and Photoshop EPS. Please don’t send GIFF or BMP files.

The resolution of your electronic image should be A4 in size and 300dpi will be about a two or three megabyte (2-3 MB) sized file. We cannot use photos that are smaller than this, as they will appear too pixelated when enlarged for the calendar. When emailing your photo, JPEG is the best format to do this in as it provides the highest quality at the smallest file size.

Please note there is a limit of one photo per entrant in the top 13 photos. You may enter as many photos as you like, however, if more than one make it into the top 13, the highest voted picture will be printed only.
