ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Australian Feedlot Sector Career Development and Training Strategy (2016) was developed out of an identified need to provide the industry with a clear career pathway for the attainment of skills through training, professional development and support. From this strategy, the Feedlot Career Development and Training (FCDT) Project was developed by ALFA, in collaboration with MLA and commenced in 2019.

  2. To provide tools and resources that defines the feedlots sector’s career development pathway and provides access to relevant training options and resources.

  3. To improve the resources available to all levels of employment in the feedlot sector through identified partnerships.

  4. To deliver a highly trained, professional workforce which is valued and well recognised.

an online Training, Education and Careers Hub

The industry-wide online training platform is a tool to provide the Australian feedlot sector, its businesses and current and prospective employees with a clear career pathway. This will include training, professional development and support networks designed to attract, retain and grow the capacity of the feedlot work force.

Feedlot TECH is a ‘one-stop-shop’ for feedlot-specific training, information on feedlot industry career pathways, skills, training and professional development opportunities.

The Feedlot TECH Training Hub with base level training courses and materials is free to access for verified users. As more courses and materials become available, a fee may apply to access certain courses. This training will be practical, cover core feedlot skills and easily integrated into daily operations and training of staff.
