Commodity Vendor Declarations go electronic
A range of 5 new commodity vendor declarations have been developed to assist lotfeeders guarantee food safety when they purchase grains, fodder and by-products. Latest Quarterly Feedlot Survey Information
The December quarter ALFA / MLA survey has indicated that whilst cattle numbers on feed increased slightly to 770,000 head, market conditions remained extremely tough for lot feeders.

Ethanol
ALFA supports the investigation of viable energy alternatives and does not oppose the use of ethanol as a fuel nor ethanol production per se. However, ALFA strongly opposes government intervention that artificially distorts agricultural markets, including mandating ethanol content in fuels or further excise exemptions for ethanol manufacturers.
Heat Load Management
ALFA would like to remind all lotfeeders that with the onset of summer approaching, it is an appropriate time to initiate your Heat Load Management plans. To assist with developing these, ALFA has put together a factsheet containing case studies on how two businesses have gained confidence in managing heat load by developing suitable plans as part of their everyday management.
